Every town and city should have a physical space where people can go to understand, debate and get involved in the past, present and future of where they live, work and play.
The purpose of these Urban Rooms is to foster meaningful connections between people and place, using creative methods of engagement to encourage active participation in the future of our buildings, streets and neighbourhoods.
Urban Rooms Network
We are a network of organisations who are involved in Urban Rooms across the UK. Our members are drawn from the arts, planning, architecture, education, heritage, community and local government. The Urban Rooms Network shares best practice gathered from innovators in the field, with the aim of promoting the inclusive and creative engagement of local communities in placemaking. We offer support to those within the network, working together to promote the value of Urban Rooms to others.
The Urban Rooms Network was set up in 2015 to promote the development of Urban Rooms, a key recommendation of the Farrell Review. The Urban Rooms Network is a working group of the Place Alliance.
